Sign up for surfing or paddleboard lessons at one of the various rental companies on the island. Make sure to visit the charming, historic downtown Charleston, which is a short 11.6-mile drive. There you must visit The Battery, a jaw-dropping stretch along the city’s southern tip, which features a row of Southern-style mansions, Angel Oak Tree, one of Charleston’s most photographed icons on Johns Island, or book a boat tour to explore the harbor.
